He spent the entire way back to the motel explaining to Sam that he'd met Eliot on a hunt, that they'd just become kinda grudging friends and nothing more. Of course, Sam didn't believe him for a second, but he just shrugged it off.
Once back to the hotel he booked a second room, claiming that since Sam wanted to get some sleep it would be a good idea since Eliot might talk shop after a few beers and they'd come back to the motel to do so.
Finally an hour later he was sitting in the bar, eyes studying everyone as he drank a beer. He was tempted to make his way to the pool table, hustle a little out of habit, but with the stacks of money settled firmly in his duffel bag at the hotel he figured he didn't need it.
